ARE SCENTED CANDLES SAFE?
Consumers can be confident that a well-made and properly burned candle, whether scented or unscented, will burn cleanly and safely. Although there are no known health hazards associated with the use of scented candles, unfounded concerns about the safety of man-made fragrances vs. “natural” fragrance materials and essential oils continue to populate the media. The fragrances approved for candle usage – whether synthesized or “natural” – do not release toxic chemicals. (According to the American National Candle Association - NCA)
IS CANDLE SOOT HARMFUL?
No. The minuscule amount of soot produced by a candle is the natural byproduct of incomplete combustion. Candle soot is composed primarily of elemental carbon particles, and is similar to the soot given off by kitchen toasters and cooking oils. These everyday household sources of soot are not considered a health concern, and are chemically different from the soot formed by the burning of diesel fuel, coal, gasoline, etc.
The production of candle soot can also be minimized in the following ways: Trim the wick to ¼ inch before every use to promote proper flame height, place the candle away from drafty areas to avoid flame flickering, and ensure that the wax pool is free of debris. WHAT ARE YOUR CANDLES MADE OF?
Sen Candle’s scented candles are made with all-natural soy wax, braided cotton wicks, and scented oils. Just wax, wick, and scent with no other additives or dyes.
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR MATERIALS?
We source our wax and our wicks from the South of Vietnam and the fragrance oils directly from the US.
WHERE ARE YOUR CANDLES MADE?
All of our candles are hand-poured and hand-packaged in our workshop in Hanoi, Vietnam.
DO YOU HAVE A STORE I CAN VISIT IN-PERSON?
At this time, we do not have an offline store.
HOW LONG DO YOUR CANDLES LAST?
As long as you keep the wick trimmed and only burn them for 2-3 hours at a time, our 5oz candles last approximately 20~25 hours, and our 8oz candles can last up to 40 hours.
WHY SHOULD I TRIM THE WICK AND ONLY BURN YOUR CANDLES FOR 2-3 HOURS AT A TIME?
These are common instructions and good practices for any candle and are meant to prolong a candle’s burn time. A longer wick creates a larger flame, a larger flame melts the wax faster, and the wax melts faster than the wick burns away. So the longer your candle burns, the larger the flame gets, causing your candle to melt faster and faster. Keeping the wick trimmed and burning 2-3 hours at a time slows everything down so you get a longer burn time.
Additionally, burning your candle for 2-3 hours at a time ensures that the wax melts all the way to the edge of the container. The melted wax (not the flame) is what gives off your candle’s scent, so this will maximize your candle’s scent when lit. It will also prevent your candle from “tunneling”, or burning a hole down the center of the candle while leaving a ring of un-melted wax along the inside of the container.

We make every effort to ship your orders as quickly as possible. Most orders will go out the same day or the next day, and we will update you with the tracking number as soon as possible. You will be able to receive the package within a few business days.
WHAT MAKES AN ALL-NATURAL SOY WAX CANDLE DIFFERENT?
While paraffin wax is refined from crude oil, soy wax is made from soybeans- a completely renewable resource. Compared to paraffin, soy wax burns cleaner with no petrol-carbon soot. Soy wax also burns slower than paraffin, so soy wax candles also last longer.
CAN I RE-USE MY CANDLE GLASS?
Yes, you can re use your glass candle jar. Clean the jar by using hot, soapy water. Please remember DO NOT pour liquid wax down your drains. The wax will solidify in the pipes and clog your sink.
